Frequently Asked Questions
Send a rough idea, a sketch or a reference photo through the contact form. You'll work directly with the artist on a design, a firm price and a timeline before anything is cut, no surprises, no obligation until you approve the concept.
Smaller work, jewelry, Scrap-o'-Lanterns and mid-size pieces, ships nationwide, packed by hand. Large sculptures and fire pits are usually local pickup or delivery within Maine. Shipping is quoted per piece once we know the size and destination.
Reclaimed and recycled metal: propane tanks, saw blades, chain, sprockets, copper off-cuts and salvaged steel. Wherever the piece allows, the original rust, patina and mill scale are preserved as part of the finished art.
Yes. Outdoor work is built and finished to live in the elements. Raw steel is treated so it weathers gracefully, and pieces meant to keep an original rust patina are sealed. Maine winters are the standard we build to.
In-stock work ships within about a week. Custom commissions generally run three to eight weeks depending on size, complexity and the season, you'll get a specific timeline with your quote before work begins.
Most pieces need nothing more than an occasional wipe-down. For outdoor work, a light coat of clear sealer or paste wax once a year keeps the finish looking its best. Care notes come with every commission.
Yes, the Clifton shop is open by appointment. Reach out through the contact form to set up a time to see work in progress and talk through ideas face to face.
Gift cards are available in any amount and make great presents for the metal-art lover in your life. For larger commissions, a simple deposit-and-installment arrangement can be set up directly with the artist.
